SENATE BILL 15-197 IMPLEMENTATION IN PROGRESS
Effective Date On May 15, 2015, Governor John Hickenlooper signed Senate Bill 15-197 "Concerning the Prescriptive Authority of Advanced Practice Nurses." The legislation significantly changes the requirements for advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) seeking prescriptive authority. The changes go into effect September 1, 2015.
Stay the Course - Current Rules Still Apply We recognize that some APRNs, physicians, mentors and preceptors may be confused and concerned about the implementation of this bill. At this time, APRNs, mentors and preceptors should continue to move forward under the current Board of Nursing Chapter XV Rules and Regulations for Prescriptive Authority for Advanced Practice Nurses.
