Call to Action: Colorado Board of Nursing FINAL hearing on prescriptive authority

Dear Colleagues,

Colorado State Board of Nursing (SBON) is hosting a stakeholder meeting for the final permanent rule changes related to Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) prescriptive authority on April 24,2024 at 9:00am MST.

The Colorado Nurses Association and SIG30  want the Department of Regulatory Affairs and the SBON to hear directly from you, the individuals on the front lines who understand how these changes impact  patients, professionals, and business owners. We encourage you to submit written comments and concerns, personally.

The Board of Nursing is having a final hearing regarding prescriptive authority for APRNs. Please attend if able and/or send a letter regarding the proposed changes. More information can be found here. 


Permanent Rulemaking Hearing – April 24, 2024


The purpose of this Rulemaking Hearing is for the Board to decide on proposed revisions to Rule 1.15 - RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR PRESCRIPTIVE AUTHORITY FOR ADVANCED PRACTICE REGISTERED NURSES, in order to clarify the statutory mentorship requirements for APN RXNs, and to correct a formatting error in Rule 1.14 – RULES AND REGULATIONS TO REGISTER PROFESSIONAL NURSES QUALIFIED TO ENGAGE IN ADVANCED PRACTICE REGISTERED NURSING.
